Bhel with a twist…

Hey there…

Today I will share a mouth watering bhel recipe of my uncle…with ready to use ingredients available at home.This is his original recipe and everytime I visit him,I do make sure to have this.It is instant to prepare and a must have evening snack 🙂 .


Murmura/puffed rice 3 cups (roasted)

Mixtures of different varieties (bhujia,chiwda,sev,papdi,dalmoth etc-mixed together) 2 cups

Beaten curd 2 cups

Onion 2 finely chopped

Boiled potato 1 (diced into cubes)

Sweet Tamarind chutney 3-4 Tablespoon

Coriander chutney 2-3 table spoon

Bhuna jeera(roasted cumin seeds) powder 2 tsp

Red chilli powder (to taste)

Rock salt/kala namak (to taste)

Salt (to taste)

Coriander for garnishing

Green chillies 2(optional) chopped

Papdi/Mathari 3-4(lightly crushed)


Roast murmura lightly in a pan for about 5 minutes.Allow it to cool and keep aside.

Mix different variety of mixture in a bowl.To this add murmura,chopped onions,potato,tamarind and green chutney.

Now add bhuna jeera powder,kala namak, salt, red chilli powder and green chillies .

To this add beaten curd and  papdi/mathri.Mix well.

Garnish with coriander & serve immediately.

P.S.  Bhel may turn soggy if allowed to stand for long…therefore serve immediately
