Refreshing Spinach Juice!!

When Popeye the sailor man ate spinach did he convince you that spinach is good?

The power food Spinach is a pile of nutrition.It provides us with plenty of fiber, and is full of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals helping the body function optimally.

There are so many health benefits associated with spinach that all we need is to learn how to include spinach in our meals.

Raw homemade spinach juice is one of the healthiest beverages that one can drink. Jaggery used in the juice activates enzymes thereby aiding in digestion and provides health benefits.It also detoxifies and cleanses the system.Mint leaves add refreshing flavour to the juice while lemon provides Vitamin C that aids in absorption of iron present in spinach.

Here’s the recipe of a very simple and nutritious Spinach Juice.. Do give it a try!!

Ingredients

Spinach 1 big bunch

Jaggery grated 1 cup

Mint leaves 8 – 10(optional)

Lemon 2

Water 1 glass

Rock salt 1/2 tsp

Ice 2-4 nos

Method

Wash spinach thoroughly  in running water.

Take grated jaggery in a bowl.Add a glass of water & allow this to stand for an hour.Mix well.

Churn spinach leaves and mint leaves in the mixer(add little water if required).Pour this mixture to the jaggery water and blend again using a hand blender.

Sieve the mixture through the strainer.

Squeeze lemons.Add the lemon juice and rock salt/kala namak to the spinach juice

Add ice.Serve immediately.

P.S.  Spinach is one of the high pesticide-containing foods, so it’s important to eat organic spinach if you can.
